Oh yeah...And coffee. Coffee is a hurdle I'll have to tackle later.
Have you seen Forks Over Knives? I stumbled upon it when I was searching Netflix for a movie one night. It was an interesting movie but one of the best things about it was that it prompted me to do a bit of investigation into the claims of the researchers. They claim that eating a low fat entirely plant based diet can dramatically reduce the incidence of cancer and heart disease. Very interesting indeed. What I learned was that I may need to be careful about wheat protein as well. Gluten may be as much of a culprit in heart disease and cancer as saturated fat and cholesterol.
My, my, my. What have I gotten myself into?

Congrats, Sara! I'm quite positive vegetarianism is NOT for me. But I'm back on Weight Watchers and am training for my first 5K (Ugh!), and am determined this year to not just lose the weight that I've regained but to actually get into better physical shape. I wish you luck on your odyssey. With our family history, I think you're being really smart!
Kati,
I also wish you the best as you get back on the WW wagon. If anyone can do it, you can! And a 5K? Wow! Remember when we did the gym rats bet? Those were the days!
I have very little inclination to go to the gym...even though I know it's the best thing for me. Not sure if or when that's going to happen.
Love you!
5K Kati - very cool! I'll be training alongside you (in spirit). Josh has convinced me to do a mini-triathalon with him. It's a 300meter swim, 10 mile bike ride, and 2 mile run. I'm not too worried about the ride and run, but the swim might kill me. Any tips on training for that?
Well, sadly, running outside had completely kicked up my asthma. So I'm going to try to get a bit more fit before I do the training for the 5K. Scott and I are doing some training on the Kinect and I'm hoping to get fitter before running outside. I think the huffing/puffing combined with the really cold air just aggravated the crap our of my lungs. So no more outside running for the moment. I'll just try to do indoor cardio and pursue a 5K when it gets a bit warmer, I think.
